How We Measure AI Visibility
The four-layer model and repeatable workflow BrightStage AI GEO uses to define, structure, and measure a business's presence in AI-generated answers.

The model
Four dependent layers
AI visibility is modeled as four layers where weakness in any lower layer caps performance in the layers above it — structure without a clear entity definition underneath it does not compound, and content without structure is harder for a retrieval system to trust.
- 1
Entity layer
An unambiguous definition of the organization, its brands, and its relationships — the foundation every other layer depends on.
- 2
Structure layer
Schema markup, semantic HTML, clean URLs, and machine-readable summaries such as llms.txt.
- 3
Content layer
Question-and-answer formatting, definitions, comparisons, and factual specificity.
- 4
Corroboration layer
Independent mentions, directories, and references that confirm the same facts.
The workflow
A repeatable sequence, not a one-time audit
BrightStage AI GEO runs the same five-step workflow for every engagement:
- Define the entity: canonical name, category, brands, locations, offerings, and relationships.
- Implement structure: Organization, Product, Service, FAQPage, and BreadcrumbList schema plus semantic HTML.
- Restructure content: definitions first, direct answers, comparison tables, and self-contained passages.
- Build corroboration: consistent facts across directories, profiles, and independent publications.
- Measure: run a prompt set across assistants and track mention, accuracy, and citation over time.
Measurement
How the fifth step actually works
Measurement starts with a prompt set representing real buying questions. Each prompt is run across assistants on a schedule, and results are scored for brand mention, factual accuracy, sentiment, and citation. Trends over time — not single snapshots — indicate whether visibility work is compounding.
This is a probability-improvement exercise, not a guarantee: no method can force a specific citation from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity on a given prompt. The methodology above is what the evidence shows correlates with inclusion — see What is AI visibility? for the underlying definition and examples.
